What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques, or tapping, is a gentle, evidence-based energy practice developed by Gary Craig.

It combines elements of cognitive therapy with the manual stimulation of acupuncture points to effect therapeutic change. EFT involves tapping on specific points of the head and body in a particular sequence and focusing on an issue that you would like to treat. 

HOW IT WORKS

Researchers believe that by stimulating the acupoints used in tapping deactivates arousal in the amygdala, (a part of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes). This helps to regulate the mind and body’s response to stress. This calming effect, combined with mild exposure to the threat or issue, may initiate what is called “reciprocal inhibition” which means that the trigger response to the issue is neutralised.
